Foundation of Hassan Group Hassan Group was founded by Hasan Şişman, beginning its journey with the hand-made production of cotton quilting. The Second World War transformed the path of the company as import interruptions created new domestic opportunities.
First Carding Line: Birth of Nonwoven Production in Turkey Taking the first step towards industrialization, the company purchased its first carding line and became the first nonwoven producer in Turkey.
From a Workshop to a Factory Under the name “Şişman Kardeşler,” the company moved its growing operations into a new plant located in Kucukkoy, Istanbul and this was a significant milestone in scaling production.
First Large-Scale Production Line A needle punch line featuring the latest technology of the time was launched to produce coconut felts for the automotive sector, marking the company’s first major industrial jump.
Establishment of Şiteks
The company continued its operations under the new
brand Şiteks, which quickly became the largest felt
producer in Turkey.
Pioneering Synthetic Fiber Production Şiteks made history by becoming the first in the country to produce nonwovens using synthetic fibers, showcasing its commitment to innovation.
Formation of Hassan Group: A New Era Hassan, the namesake of the group, was established in a new plant in Ikitelli, Istanbul. This marked the beginning of the Group’s diversification across the nonwoven industry, powering decades of experience.
Catsis was Founded
Catsis was established to produce molded and trimmed
parts made of nonwovens for the automotive and
household appliance industries.
Telasis & Teksis Join the Group
- Telasis began producing fusible interlinings
for the ready-made garment industry and soon became
one of Europe’s leading suppliers.
- Teksis
was established as the export company of the Group,
enhancing its global reach.
Bitumen-Based Products
Offerings from Catsis were expanded to include
bitumen-based products for the automotive industry.
Entry into the Hygiene Industry Telasis made a breakthrough by launching production of topsheet nonwovens for hygiene products, utilizing the world’s widest carded thermobonded nonwoven line.
Pelsan was Founded Pelsan began producing breathable films, becoming the first in Turkey to do so. It rapidly evolved into a global leader in the hygiene and medical sectors, known for its quality and production capabilities.
Merkas was Founded With the foundation of Merkas, the Group launched air-through bonded nonwovens production and once again pioneering a new technology in Turkey’s hygiene industry.
Launch of Spunbond Nonwoven Production
To meet demand for textile backsheet products,
Hassan Group began producing spunbonded nonwovens,
further broadening its material portfolio.
Teksis Europe Opens
To reinforce its presence in the European market,
Teksis Europe opened its office in Lugano,
Switzerland.
Vertical Integration: Compound Production As part of its vertical integration strategy, the Group initiated breathable film compound production and here is another first in Turkey.
Flexo Printing Technology
Pelsan integrated advanced Flexo printing technology
into its backsheet product line, enhancing product
customization and visual appeal.
Blown Film Technology Added Pelsan invested in Blown Film technology, becoming one of the few global players offering Cast Film, Blown Film, Flexo and Roto Printing technologies under one roof.
